If this happens a lot to you, try stepping back and observing the obstacles ahead. Study the movement of platforms, observe what enemies are up ahead, and plan your approach accordingly. As you get better at playing games, you’ll get better at being able to make things up as you go. As spotted by Twitter user realradec, Astro’s Playroom received an update for February 2025 that added the PS5 Pro as an artifact.

We described the trophies, controls, and the most important aspects of the game. Having the rewards be items that we grew up with tugs nostalgic heartstrings — and each model is rendered perfectly. The PSP reward is so detailed that it feels like Team Asobi could have placed your old childhood PSP into the game. You can explore all these items in the PlayStation Lago, a hub area of everything you collect. It’s a lot of fun to scale up these objects, and each one has a cool animation.
It’s inspired by the characters and concepts first introduced in The Playroom and The Playroom VR, which culminated in the full-blown Astro Bot Rescue Mission for PlayStation VR. The game serves as a showcase for the DualSense controller’s features and functionality. We awarded the game a 9/10 in our Astro’s Playroom PS5 review, describing it as a “love letter to PlayStation”. But overall, in a free game, a slew of challenge levels to test yourself in is just icing on a near-perfect cake.
Artifact 2/3 “Playstation Portable” – After riding the rotating platform, there is a switch on the other side which creates a lily pad platform back to the right. You need to jump to the left to reach a room with another rotating platform. Puzzle Piece 4/4– While on the floating ice platforms, this puzzle piece is in the air while you are on the second one. Artifact 2/2 “PS3 Game Disc” – From the central large ice area go to the left across the controller symbol ice blocks.
Artifact 2/2 “PS2 Memory Card” – Hold both triggers down fullying to puh yourself through the two purple spiderwebs to find this artifact on the other side. Puzzle Piece 3/4 – When you see the electrical hazards, continue to the right where you see the purple webs instead of continuing up. Artifact 1/2 “PS Move Motion Controller” – From the start of the area, go to the right and drop down to a lower area. In the back corner, there will be a curtain of plants you need to blow out of the way with the microphone. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – Directly after the above, this puzzle piece is basically in your way.
Along the top edge of the ceiling in the Labo area are architectural elements that are from the PSone, the slim version of the original PlayStation. The two blank slots reference the Memory Card ports, which have flaps on them. In the PlayStation Labo area, the wall skirting just above the floor contain references to various PlayStation hardware ports. In https://tr88.golf/ , you can spot the PSP, PS Vita and PSP Go port and button layouts from the top and bottom of the systems. The only unknown one is the one with the Ethernet port, which doesn’t match any PlayStation system.
The game is a fantastic tech demo for the DualSense controller while also being an enjoyable platformer in its own right. Astro’s Playroom has been described as a love letter to PlayStation, as the game is full of references to past and present Sony franchises. Astro & his crew lead you into a magical introduction through the PlayStation®5!
The PS5 comes with a free game that not only demonstrates the new console’s abilities but celebrates the long history of PlayStation. Now jump back out and left to land on a silver switch, raising a block that helps you jump up to a second switch. Land on that one to raise another platform that lets you reach Puzzle Piece #4.
And that’s on top of the way it blends some audio Easter eggs into the world that are perhaps best discovered while playing. For a free game that comes with the PlayStation 5, one largely designed just to showcase all the bells and whistles of Sony’s next-gen DualSense controller, Astro’s Playroom is surprisingly fun. It’s not just a great toybox to experience the DualSense’s haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, microphone, and more, it also delivers the best proof-of-concept pack-in I’ve played since Wii Sports. This is a truly joyous homage to PlayStation history, as well as an experimental platformer I can only hope to see turned into a larger experience during the PS5’s lifetime. Effective strategies for Silver trophies often involve revisiting levels with newly acquired abilities or knowledge.
Artifact 2/2 “DUALSHOCK 4 Wireless Controller” – From the location of puzzle piece 4, drop down to the right where you can see the line of coins and grab another monkey bar. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – Now instead of progressing upward from that puzzle piece, go to the right side of that monkey bar to reach another handhold up to the right, which drops the wall to the right. In this area, there are some spinning shapes on the walls and a puzzle piece directly in the middle of the right one you can grab. Artifact 1/2 “Playstation Camera” – From the location of puzzle piece 2, you need to jump up to a set of handholds on the left side. Artifact 2/2 “Playstation Vita Game Pack” – After avoiding the large yellow barrel, go up the slope then directly left.

In terms of basic structure and mechanics, Astro’s Playroom is not surprising; it adheres closely to a comfortable formula.

In Astro’s Playroom, the adaptive triggers come up a lot, but the most obvious demonstration of them is when Astro hops into a spring suit. Once inside, the game turns into a side-scrolling platformer, as Astro is able to launch itself to the left or right using a giant spring in its legs. The illusion is incredible, making me feel way more connected to the events on screen than I would without this tension.
